2012 SPRING LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE


CITY OF ALTOONA:
Bagged collection of leaves, vegetable & bedding plants starts, Monday, April 2 and ends Wendesday, April 11.
Collection Schedule: Mondays, April 2 & 9 – Juniata, Ivyside, Wehnwood South to 4th Street, 10th Avenue to City line between 4th & 31st Street. Tuesdays, April 3 & 10 – Eldorado/Llyswen, Southwest of 31st Street/Union Avenue; Wednesdays, April 4 & 11 – East End, Prospect, Dutch Hill, Tuckahoe Park and Pleasant Valley. Brush/tree limbs must be less than 3'' in diameter and cut to length to fit into yard waste bags for collection.
 
 
All yard waste (including tree branches, leaves and vegetation must be in paper leaf bags). The Altoona Highway Dept. crews cannot collect whole cut trees). In addition to curbside collection, the Altoona City Highway Yard will be open on weekdays begnning, Monday, April 16 from 8 AM to 3 PM and will continue to operate until Fall Leaf Collection begins. HOLLIDAYSBURG BOROUGH:
Yard waste pick-up will begin on Monday, April 9 and continue through Tuesday, May 15. Crews will pick-up on the East side of Penn Street every Monday. The West side of Penn Street, Gaysport and Holliday Hills will be picked-up every Tuesday. Do not put bags in the alley (except in Holliday Hills). Leaves, plant material, tree and brush trimmings and branches up to 3” in diameter and 6’ in length will be collected. Brush and branches must be bundled with string or twine (no wire). Bags and bundles should weigh less than 50 lbs. Items must be at the curb by 7 AM.
 
 
 LOGAN TOWNSHIP:
Township-wide leaf collections will begin on Monday, April 9 and end on Friday, May 4. The leaf collector will pick-up plant material, piled tree, brush trimmings and branches (up to 3” in diameter and 6’ in length) along the public road for pick-up. The entire township is usually collected at least once per week.
TYRONE BOROUGH
Borough residents may drop-off yard waste at the Tyrone Borough Garage, 1500 Lincoln Avneue, on weekdays, beginning, Monday, April 9 from 7 AM to 2:30 PM and continue to drop-off material until Fall Leaf Collection begins. Residents can also drop-off material on the first and thrid Saturdays in April. Yard waste may be loose or in paper bags.


BLAIR TOWNSHIP
Township-wide curbside leaf collections will take place each week on Mondays & Tuesdays beginning April 2 & 3 and run through April 23 & 24 All yard waste must be in brown paper bags.


PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • Do not place any yard waste material that was treated or potentially treated with the herbicide Imprelis at the curbside or any drop-off location.

  • Leaves, vegetable & bedding plants may be placed in any paper bag.

  • Bags over 50 lbs. will not be collected.

  • Items other than those specified will not be collected.

  • Please do not use tape to seal the bag.

  • Place your bags at the curb by 7am on the day of collection.

  • The Blair County Compost Facility and the Blair County Research & Demonstration Compost Facility will accept brush, grass clippings, leaves & yard waste year-round during hours of operation. All fees apply.
