The Regular Township meeting held on August 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm was called to order and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call of Officers
All Board members were present; Sec-Treasurer Beverly Henderson, Asst. Sec. Wanda Carey, Solicitor Frederick Gieg, Engineer Richard Bulger were present.
Minutes
A motion was made by Robert Onkst and 2nd by George Henry to accept the meeting minutes of July 5, 2011, and the Treasurer’s Report for the month of July with corrections made. The motion passed unanimously.
Announcements – There was an Executive Session held after the July 5, 2011 meeting for legal matters.
General Comments – No general comments
Old Business:
Ventura Construction Change Order #2 Amount 5,900.00 – The change order was for the sidewalk and hand railing to be placed around the bathroom. Engineer Bulger reported that this was approved on June 7, 2011 meeting. A motion was made by Robert Onkst and 2nd by George Henry authorizing the Chairman to sign the Change Order #2. The motion passed unanimously.
Ventura Construction Pay Est. #2 Amount $43,480.00 Final Payment on Frankstown Memorial Park – A motion was made by George Henry and 2nd by Robert Onkst authorizing final payment in the amount of $43,480.00 to Ventura Construction for the Frankstown Memorial Park. The motion passed unanimously. Supervisor Grove questioned whether the last 3 items were completed, Engineer Bulger stated that he believed that they were or Engineer Levine would not have signed off the final.
Ventura Construction Sidewalk/Flag Pole Base/Memorial Base for Korean War Veterans Amount $6,900.00 – a motion was made by George Henry and 2nd by Robert Onkst approving the payment in the amount of $6,900.00 for the Sidewalk/Flag Pole Base/Memorial Base for Korean War Veterans, the proposal dated June 4, 2011. The motion passed unanimously.
Other Old Business: Solicitor Gieg reported that the Barry Agreement concerning the contribution of $10,000.00 for Atlas Dr up grade. He reported that he forwarded a letter to Attorney Eberhardt and Todd Holes concerning the status on the agreement. Solicitor Gieg reported that a call came in from Atty. Eberhardt’s office and stated that the agreement was signed but we have not received the check as to date. Solicitor Gieg stated that the agreement is nothing without the funds.
Attorney Matthew Gieg reported on the following project he has been working on:
Jane Steele is in the process of cleaning up her residence and stated that they will be working on the porch issues
Tiffany Hoffman received a certified letter stating that she had a swimming pool in the Floodway, which the ordinance states that no new construction is aloud within the Floodway, and she has since removed it.
Robin Merritts agreement concerning the Kitchen Floor repairs, Secretary Henderson stated that her agreement is completed.
Allen Eger Agreement- it was reported that we are trying to locate Mr. Eger, and we are waiting for him to sign it.
Teri Brantner a certified letter was sent to her concerning a swimming pool within the Floodway, which the ordinance states that no new construction is allowed within the Floodway. As to date we have not heard from Ms. Brantner.
Solicitor Gieg stated that the Court Order sewer laterals on all connected and as fast as we get the invoices liens are being placed on the properties for the Tap Fees as well as the Lateral Connections.
Solicitor Gieg requested an executive session concerning legal matter on Penelec, The Hollidaysburg Borough returned our peak flow check.
Supervisor Grove asked Solicitor Gieg if the Barry’s are still interested in going on with the Atlas Drive project. Solicitor Gieg stated that they were.
William Troxell was present and questioned the status on the former Hartman property in Kliens Acres, also commented on the great job with the paving in that area.
Lenny Metz was present concerning the damage that the logging outfit did at the end of his driveway and has removed stone and didn’t return them, they also knocked over a post. Engineer Bulger stated that we did have a bond with Walker Lumber, and also stated that the Township would go out and take a look at it.
New Business:
Randy Isenberg Geeseytown Fire Co. Rep reported on the following:
The new garage is ready for use
Eagle Scout is building onto their barbeque pit
7 to 8 million dollar upgrade on their radio system is the approx cost for Blair County wide, for the Geeseytown Fire Co. there approx cost for the upgrade is $60,000.00, and they will be applying for a grant to help set off the cost which will be taken for relief.
The Fire hall is receiving a number of calls concerning the rental of the pavilions, therefore the Fire Co. has drafted up an proposal for them to rent the pavilions out.
The regular Township meeting adjourned at 7:23 PM the Board of Supervisor retired into an executive session concerning legal matters.
