LEAF and LIMB COLLECTION
                                                                                   Leaf Raker

Leaves

Antis Township conducts a Fall Leaf collection from late October through mid November (exact dates are announced each year as the collection time draws near).

The service lasts approximately four weeks. During this time, Township public works employees conducts a curbside collection of leaves (limbs and branches are not collected at this time).

So that the leaf vacuum can reach the leaves, all leaves must be raked to the roadside edge of the property. Leaves may also be placed in brown paper bags on the roadside edge of the property. In oreder to be collected, leaves must be raked up by 7:00am on the designated collection day.

The APPROXIMATE schedule is as follows:

Monday
Bellemeade and Pinecroft
Wednesday
Tipton
Friday
Bellwood Area & Riggles Gap

In order to continue to offer this service to residents, we ask that you DO NOT call the Township office and request special pickups during this time. If your leaves are not collected on the designated day in your area, your leaves should be left along the roadside as described above and the Township will make the collection the following week on the designated day.

Township residents are also reminded that open burning of leaves is strictly prohibited. Paper burning may only be done in an approved container and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7:00am until 7:00pm. It is illegal to burn leaves or trash. Brush may only be burned in certain limited circumstances and only after obtaining a permit from the Township.

Limbs

The Township collects tree limbs each spring. The intent of this collection is for limbs that have fallen over the winter months. Residents who choose to cut down a tree or bush on their property may take those trimmings to the Township compost site themselves. Township employees will not collect a pile of limbs that takes longer than just a few minutes to chip.

The scheduled collection dates are announced each year, but generally take place in early spring. Any resident wanting to take advantage of this service should follow these guidelines:

  • Leave the branches as long as possible (5 to 8 feet in length).
  • Nothing over 4 inches in diameter will be accepted. Anything larger will not go through our chipper.
  • Branches should be placed on the roadside in an orderly pile with the trunk ends facing toward the road.
  • Hedge and shrub clippings, tree stumps as well as branches with thorns WILL NOT be collected.
Spring limb collection is tentatively scheduled for May 2009.

Composting

The Township operates a Yard Waste Composting Facility that is open year round to residents of Antis Township and neighboring communities. Yard waste, including tree trimmings (less than 4” in diameter), leaves, grass clippings, and Christmas trees are all accepted at no charge All contaminants, such as metals, plastics, rocks, lumber, and refuse, should be eliminated from the brush as the site does not accept these.
 Compost

When available, the public may pick up mulch and compost from the site during regular operating hours. There is no charge if you shovel and load yourself. If we load it (Thursdays only), the cost is $15.00 per scoop. Call or stop by the Antis Township Building to make arrangements.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 2:00pm.

The compost yard is for residential use only. Use by contractors is strictly prohibited and will be considered illegal dumping.
